Business Process Analyst

Join a major player in its sector as a Business Process Analyst and help transform the way critical business processes are designed, measured, and improved. This 12-month Brussels mission places you at the heart of cross-functional change, turning complex workflows into clear, efficient, and measurable operating models.

CONTEXT

Our client, a major player in its sector, is entering a phase where operational excellence is no longer a back-office ambition but a strategic differentiator. Its Business department sits at the intersection of product, operations, risk, and customer experience, and its teams rely on a dense web of processes that have grown organically over time. Some workflows are well understood; others live in spreadsheets, inboxes, and the memory of experienced colleagues. The organisation has decided to bring clarity to this landscape by strengthening its process analysis capability. The mission is to map, challenge, and redesign core business processes so that they become simpler, faster, and easier to govern. You will join a 12-month initiative in Brussels that combines hands-on process discovery with stakeholder alignment and measurable improvement. This is not a pure documentation exercise: the goal is to create a shared language for how work gets done, uncover friction points, and prepare pragmatic recommendations that teams can actually adopt. You will work closely with business owners, operational staff, and technology partners, translating messy reality into clear process models and actionable roadmaps. The role is visible, collaborative, and deeply connected to the daily experience of employees and customers.

ACTIVITIES

  • Lead process discovery workshops with business stakeholders to capture current-state workflows, decision points, handoffs, exceptions, and pain points.
  • Build clear process maps and target-state models using recognised notations such as BPMN, ensuring that documentation is understandable for both business and technical audiences.
  • Analyse process performance by identifying bottlenecks, duplication, manual workarounds, control gaps, and opportunities for automation or simplification.
  • Translate findings into concrete recommendations, business cases, and prioritised improvement plans with measurable indicators.
  • Facilitate alignment between departments that own different parts of the same end-to-end process, helping them agree on roles, responsibilities, and service expectations.
  • Support the definition of process KPIs, operating procedures, and governance routines that keep improvements alive after the project ends.
  • Prepare clear presentations, workshop materials, and decision papers for senior stakeholders, adapting the level of detail to the audience.
  • Collaborate with change, IT, and data teams to ensure that process improvements are compatible with systems, controls, and regulatory expectations.
  • Maintain a structured repository of process documentation and ensure that versions, owners, and assumptions are explicitly recorded.
  • Coach business teams on process thinking, helping them move from ad hoc problem-solving to continuous improvement habits.

EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

By the end of the mission, the organisation should have a reliable and shared view of its most critical business processes, from first trigger to final outcome. You will have delivered a prioritised portfolio of improvement opportunities, supported by clear evidence and realistic implementation considerations. Stakeholders should be able to make decisions faster because roles, handoffs, and exceptions are no longer ambiguous. Teams should feel ownership of the target-state processes rather than seeing them as an external consultant artefact. The role will also leave behind stronger process governance: KPIs, documentation standards, and routines that allow the Business department to keep improving without losing momentum. Your impact will be measured in reduced friction, clearer accountability, better customer or employee experience, and a more disciplined approach to change.

ENVIRONMENT

The role sits within a business-facing transformation environment where process analysis meets stakeholder facilitation and pragmatic change management. You will use BPMN and process modelling tools, collaborate through workshops and structured interviews, and work with business stakeholders across operations, risk, finance, and technology. The team values clear documentation, evidence-based recommendations, and the ability to move between detailed analysis and executive storytelling. You will need to be comfortable with Visio, ARIS, Signavio, or a comparable process modelling suite, as well as Excel, PowerPoint, and collaboration platforms. Methodologically, the environment combines business process management principles, Lean thinking, agile delivery rhythms, and strong governance. The pace is steady but demanding, with multiple stakeholders and a need to balance quick wins with sustainable design. Excellent English is essential; French or Dutch will help you navigate the Brussels context and build trust with local teams.
