System Engineer
This mission calls for a senior systems engineer to stabilise and evolve a very large endpoint estate while modernising core infrastructure. The role is hands-on, certification-backed and focused on reliability at enterprise scale.
CONTEXT
Our client, a major player in its sector, operates one of the more demanding endpoint estates imaginable, with more than one hundred thousand devices depending on stable systems engineering and disciplined infrastructure governance. The organisation is looking for a senior system engineer to reinforce a two-year on-site mission in Brussels, bringing deep hands-on experience from large environments where small configuration decisions can affect thousands of users. This is not a first-line support role; it is a chance to apply certification-level expertise to complex engineering problems, improve operational resilience and help modernise a critical technology backbone without losing sight of day-to-day reliability.
ACTIVITIES
- Engineer, administer and troubleshoot large-scale Windows and endpoint infrastructure in an environment of more than one hundred thousand endpoints.
- Provide senior technical support for incidents, changes and problem management, acting as an escalation point for complex system issues.
- Maintain and improve endpoint management, patch compliance, security baselines, Group Policy and Active Directory dependencies.
- Automate repetitive engineering and operational tasks with scripting and standard deployment practices.
- Document architecture decisions, operational runbooks and recovery procedures so that knowledge is shared and auditable.
EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
- Improve stability, security and performance across a very large endpoint estate while reducing recurring incidents and manual effort.
- Deliver reliable engineering changes with minimal disruption to business users and clear rollback paths.
- Raise the technical maturity of the team through certification-backed expertise, documentation and knowledge transfer.
- Support the long-term modernisation roadmap by keeping the existing environment controlled, observable and ready for controlled evolution.
ENVIRONMENT
- Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy and large-scale endpoint management technologies.
- Enterprise patching, security hardening, deployment automation and PowerShell-based scripting.
- Complex infrastructure operations spanning more than one hundred thousand endpoints and multiple technical teams.
- MCSA, MCSE or MCSD certification standards, ITIL-style operational discipline and structured documentation practices.
